ARTP Competency Assessment and entry onto the National Spirometry Register
To maintain professional registration, it is a requirement of the NMC that nurses must be responsible and accountable for keeping their knowledge and skills up to date through continuing professional development. They must aim to improve their performance and enhance the safety and quality of care through evaluation, supervision, and appraisal.
There are many ways in which competency can be assessed, including self-assessment with reflective practice, peer evaluation and completion and certification of our own accredited competency assessments which are included within the training package.
Whilst the NMC have confirmed that it is not a mandatory requirement of theirs, delegates may wish to complete the ARTP competency assessments, to be placed on the national spirometry register to provide evidence they have been assessed as competent. All our courses will prepare you for this, and full support is given as part of the course fee. The Respiratory Matters spirometry tutor is also an ARTP assessor.
The options for registration with ARTP are as follows:
Pay the Respiratory Matters course fee PLUS ARTP fee together. Respiratory Matters will then transfer your registration fee to ARTP on your behalf. You have 9 months to complete the competencies once payment is made. ARTP will contact you directly with your login details to their site in order that you can upload your competencies. Depending on which pathway you have registered on, you will also be able to arrange a ZOOM practical assessment and a MCQ paper.
Pay the Respiratory Matters course fee and once you feel confident following the course you can register yourself directly with ARTP. We will still support you fully with your submission.
PLEASE NOTE IF WE ENROL YOU WITH ARTP THERE IS AN ADMINISTRATION FEE AND THEREFORE YOU MAY WISH TO ENROL YOURSELF DIRECTLY WITH THEM
ARTP fees and registration details can be found here https://www.artp.org.uk/Spirometry-Register
Please Note
ARTP do not endorse any spirometry course, but training companies, like us, whose details are shown on the ARTP website are required to follow all ARTP standards in our teaching.
There is no such thing as an ARTP course, or ARTP accreditation.
The ARTP competency assessment is not a training course.
ARTP set the competency assessments and ARTP assessors mark them.
The ARTP Spirometry register is hosted by the Academy for Healthcare Science (AHCS).
